MEET OUR TEAM
The graphic communications industry has been very good to each of the members of JYBE. Now it is our turn to return the favor to the industry we love.
Each member of JYBE brings a unique skill set and over 25 years of hands on experience in the printing and publishing industry. We get what is needed to successfully manage in today’s environment and JYBE was created to help our clients gain a competitive edge.
Kernin’s first job in the printing industry was breaking down letterpress chases at the age of 12. After completing his education, Kernin held management and consultation positions in leading graphic communication companies including printing companies, trade shops, advertising agencies and industry suppliers. He has toured the country as an industry consultant and helped pave the way for digital automation still taking place today.
Most recently, Kernin was the organizational development and marketing director for a Sovereign Nation where he held P&L responsibility for five businesses while overseeing marketing for the entire thirteen enterprises. Through his leadership the businesses under his direction improved returns in excess of 10 million dollars in less than five years.
Kernin is a Oregon Duck alum and also a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Photography. His continuing education includes extensive studies at the Rochester Institute of Technology, Rhode Island School of Design, the Goldratt institute, Harvard University and MIT. Kernin was also an adjunct professor at the Rhode Island College School of Industrial Education.
Donald’s work experience includes plant and operations management positions in industry leading print, pre-press and publishing companies. His skills in complex problem solving were honed in high-pressure environments where he lead and assisted in accomplishing significant bottom-line improvements.
During his career, Donald was heavily involved in process improvement efforts.
Often frustrated by the limitations of existing MIS systems, Donald began writing custom databases to provide critical information not available in legacy print centric systems.
In his role in as a Systems Analyst and software developer at a commercial printing company offering offset, digital, large format, mailing and marketing support services Donald teamed with Chris Eadens to build a custom solution. The result of their work is now JYBE, a game changing information system for job shop manufacturing.
Beyond Donald’s college studies, his continuing education included studying at the Goldratt Institute under Eli Goldratt.
Like the other principals of Jybe, Chris grew up in the printing industry. His college education and skill set moved him into the world of desktop publishing in the mid-eighties as the industry was beginning the evolution into digital production.
Chris played an integral role in the digital transition for numerous clients as he specialized in developing publishing workflows and training support. In his work he found that database-driven applications were instrumental in workflow automation and began developing database-centric publishing and management systems for local and nationally based clients.
Today, with over 20 years of application development for print and alternative media clients, Chris is the co-founder and chief architect of Jybe.
During his studies of electrical engineering, computer science and graphic design at Kansas State University Chris was naturally drawn to become an entrepreneur.
